"Security"

One of the greatest human needs is a sense of security. In all aspects of life, we naturally gravitate towards anything that makes us feel safe. In this piece, I wanted to convey a sense of complete peace and calm like only the Savior can provide. It's a security that allows us to rest assured, without fear or worry, when we put ourselves trustingly in His arms. Little children have that inherent kind of trust in their parents, so it's fitting that the man and girl who modeled for "Security" are actually father and daughter. They generatedthe exact feel I was looking for.

My Child

"My Child"

This piece conveys an intimate, up-close-and-personal feeling of the Savior's love. Notice how all the lines draw your attention and point towards Jesus' face in the center. I chose the name "My Child" because the only thing that could compare (even remotely) to Christ's compassion for us is the love of a parent for his/her child. This image is also intended to put things in perspective. Above all, we are God's children first. He allows us the privelege of experiencing parenthood for ourselves and we are entrusted to be the mothers and fathers of His children here on earth.

Innocents

"Innocence"

The Savior tells us we need to become as little children to inherit the kingdom of God. I've often wondered what it is about little children Jesus loves most, and I think its their innocence. They are clean slates, seeing the world and others through untarnished eyes. Their hearts are pure, without the baggage of cynicism and self-doubt. In this piece, I've tried to imagine how a child would act upon meeting the Master for the first time. Without reservation or inhibition, I think he would simply want to play with Him. He would be at complete ease, allowing his pure little heart to soak in the love and laughter of His pure, infinite heart. Its no wonder Christ delights in these little ones and sets them up to be our examples.

Christmas Morning - Smile

Thanksgiving wasn't to giving !

I don't know if I even want to talk about how our Thanksgiving was.

Why? because I don’t know if I really want to remember that day. But I think that I need to express my thoughts and feeling about the dramatic event. It was very upsetting to me and I hope that we all learned from the experience.

For those of you that will read this know what took place, so I don’t think I need to relive the details. Besides, you’ve already posted your thoughts on your own blog.

The important thing to me regarding the event was that it opened my eyes to the importance of relationships and family. As a family we tend to feel we have the right to pass judgment on the people that are significant in our lives, even if the expression of our own opinions our hurtful. We seem to constantly forget that to respect other opinions we don’t have to agree with them or change what we believe. You simply just agree to disagree and walk away with dignity and a stronger relationship.

It’s when you gang up on the odd ball out and stab them in the back when their not looking that creates destruction of your family unit. We get so caught up in our own agenda and make it the priority over relationships. That was the part of the evening that I will remember. The part that hurt not only me, but others. That was the part that we should have thought it out before we spoke. I commend the effort to make it right and the apologies that were given. That did make it easier to smile again.

I want my family to know that the most important part of my life is to see and feel that we are all in this together, through good and bad no matter what. That all of you are essential in my life and I respect and love you unconditionally. That it doesn’t matter who you voted for, or if you go to church, or if you have made bad choices in your life. We all make mistakes and have our own agency to choose.

After the experience of watching Grandma Hoxer leave this life. I have learned to appreciate my family and my relationship with them. My only regrets that I live with everyday since she’s been gone is that I didn’t appreciate her more. That I didn’t express to her how much she meant to me. I regret not calling her more often. As I face that same fear with my father who sits at home struggling to take a breath in pain, and agony. I struggle on how to express myself to him. I wonder if I say “I love you” enough.

Thank you for being who you are. I love you all so very much !

Grandma Hoxer's Funeral

On November 17, 2008, we laid our wonderful Mother and Grandmother to rest. The funeral services were very humbling and I believe that she was very happy with the performances that were performed in her behalf. She was a great inspiration to all of us in her life. We are already feeling a great loss with her gone.

I am so grateful to have the support from our children and I want my nieces' to know how much we appreciated their talents they shared and the sacrifice of time for our benefit.

Good Things Utah

Today I had the privilege of going with some friends and neighbors to the abc’s
“Good Things Utah” show. It's a live show that is on TV every morning at 10:00 a.m. It was really interesting to sit in the audience and see how spontaneous and professional the hosts performed. Nesha, Angie, Marti, and Regan were very friendly and polite. They did not seem or act stuffy, they all interacted with the audience and had fun with us. We even got a gift bag from Roberts Crafts. Would I do it again? Sure, it was a great way to spend my day off work.

I Finally Figured It Out. . . .

I finally figured out how to sign in to my own Blogspot. Karie was the wonderful creator and all I need to do is add to it. Well, I forgot the password and to tell you the truth - I never have enough time to just sit at the oomputer and be creative.

I truly enjoy reading about my family and friends and looking at their pictures. So, I am going to try and keep up with the "BLOG".
